LGreyBar & PGreyBar are two programs which download "autoexec"
macros to the Hewlet Packard Laserjet Series III Printer which will
set up the printer to produce a page similar to that of "greenbar"
computer paper. The macro will continue to produce the output on
all pages printed from the laser until it is reset. This can be
accomplished three ways, the laser can be turned off, the reset
button on the front panel may be pressed, or the software reset
sequence may be sent to the computer (Escape-E).
These programs currently only send output to the dos printer
PRN: and they set the laser to the following characteristics:
LGreyBar - Landscape
66 lines x 173 columns
Line Printer Font
PGreyBar - Portrait
66 lines x 96 columns
Courier Font
Instructions:
- Run Program, LGREYBAR or PGREYBAR
- Send Output to Printer (I.E. "DIR > PRN:")
- Reset Printer, run RESET or press reset button
NOTE: If you don't see grey bars on your printout your software is most
likely sending a reset sequence to the printer. Most commercial word
processing software will do this, try doing "DIR > LPT1:" to test.
If software is reseting printer you can try to get arround this by
setting it up for TTY-CRLF or daisy-wheel Printers.
NOTE: This also may work on HP Laserjet series II Printers
